Judith Conway & Kevin O’Toole, Owners/Artists at Vitrum Studio

Saturday, April 11th, 2009
10am to 4pm

Tuition $165

Explore one of the most useful tools for the kilnformer – the sandblaster.  In this one-day workshop we will demystify the sandblasting process with discussions and demonstrations of surface treatments, positive and negative images,  etching away iridized and dichroic coatings, and more.

We will also demonstrate how sandblasting can be used for problem-solving for surface defects on your kilnformed work, and how you can achieve a beautiful matte surface on your work by sandblasting the glass surface before a final firing.

Projects will include two etched and slumped bowls and several sandblasted samples.

Beginning level.
