Wire Wrapping Basics with Lampworked Beads
Sally Stevens, Independent Jewelry Artist and Instructor
Saturday and Sunday, March 21st & 22nd, 2009
10am to 4pm each day
Tuition $310 Deposit $150
Do you make your own lampworked glass beads and now need a way to professionally showcase them in jewelry? Have you wanted a quality jewelry workshop that would teach you the basics of wire wrapping while taking you on a creative journey of possibilities? We’ve invited our friend, Sally Stevens, of Sunroom Studios, to teach just such a workshop, designed especially for us.
This two-day class will teach you the basic wire wrapping skills of coiling, spiraling, and hammering to make jump rings, eye pins, wrapped loops, coiled beads, caged beads, clasps and connectors and how to combine these elements in a professionally finished necklace. Then we’ll add techniques for making wire-wrap dangles, connectors and head pins, and you will create your own unique sterling silver bracelet using handmade glass beads.
Bring your own lampworked beads to use in the necklace and bracelet that you design in class (or you may purchase some unique beads from Sally during the class).
All materials, except the lampworked beads, are supplied for the workshop. No previous jewelry construction experience is required. We will provide tools to use for the course, or you may bring your own. All levels.
