Freeform Wire Wrapped Pendant, Hand Forged Collar, and Earrings!
Sally Stevens, Independent Jewelry Artist and Instructor

Saturday and Sunday, April 18th & 19th, 2009
10am to 4pm each day

Tuition $310               Deposit $150

In the first day of this two-day workshop, designed for the student with basic wire experience, we will make a stunning necklace in sterling silver with a large focal bead. We will use wire wrapping techniques to coil and spiral wire around a focal lampworked bead, making a pendant which will fit on a silver collar. We will also create a hand-forged sterling collar to which the pendant may be attached, learning how to size and shape the collar using a metal form.

On the second day of this workshop you will be introduced to other methods of manipulating wire and various types of sheet metal to create a variety of earrings. Demonstrations will include metal working techniques such as forging, hammering, dapping, and texturing the metals to create a look that intrigues you. Bring all your tools! What you don’t have will be available for your use at the workshop. As usual, all materials and the use of all needed tools are included in the tuition.

Please note:  Your focal bead must have a hole large enough to accommodate 16 gauge wire. Small lampworked beads work best for the earring projects.  Original lampworked beads will be available for purchase for the projects, or bring your own!  Come prepared to have fun! Intermediate level.
