OK – all you knitters inspired us to sit down and explore the ways, both new and old, that we could create buttons and other wearables in the kiln.  We came up with some new ways of using old techniques (the African glass beads) and some brand-new techniques as well.

In this two-day class we will share our discoveries and you will explore the many possibilities for creating unique glass buttons and beads in the kiln. You’ll learn to use a variety of kilnforming techniques to create beautiful and unique glass wearables.  We’ll show you several ways of including holes and shanks in your buttons, and various ways of making threading holes in your beads.  We’ll also review simple cutting and coldworking methods for professional results.  Perfect for the knitter or the jewelry designer interested in getting into kilnformed glass.
